Fiber Optic Cabling Technician

Vortex IT Systems is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Cabling Technician to join our growing infrastructure team. This role involves installing, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic networks for commercial and enterprise clients.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of fiber optic systems including single-mode and multi-mode fiber, splicing, termination, and testing procedures.

Ability to diagnose signal loss, fiber breaks, and performance issues efficiently.

Ability to manage multiple installations and maintain accurate documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables (single-mode and multi-mode).
Perform fusion splicing and mechanical splicing.
Conduct OTDR and power meter testing.
Install fiber enclosures, patch panels, and network hardware.
Interpret fiber schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber lines.
Document test results and installation reports.
Travel to various job sites as required.
Perform physically demanding tasks including climbing ladders, pulling fiber, and working in confined spaces.
