Field IT Technician

Job Description

Vortex IT Systems is hiring a Field IT Technician to support our growing team. You will be responsible for providing onsite support for various customers. 

We’re looking for a self-motivated individual who can manage their time effectively. This role requires independence and a sense of accountability because the day-to-day working environment will involve a minimal amount of direct supervision.

Technical knowledge: A strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and software, as well as experience with healthcare technology systems, is essential.

Communication skills: The ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical employees, and to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members, and on-site users.

Problem-solving skills: The ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues, and to find creative solutions to challenges that arise.

Organizational skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and to prioritize and delegate effectively.

Interpersonal skills: Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with others and to build relationships with new hires and team members, are essential in an IT onboarding role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be team-focused with a passion to meet customer needs and company goals.
  • Provide service call support for our customer’s equipment by replacing defective components through standard troubleshooting procedures.
  • Use test equipment to configure, stage, and diagnose problems within various communications systems.
  • Use Basic tools such as a computer, tone generator, network and phone cable testers, termination tools, and various drivers.
  • Work with customers to determine deadlines, urgency, timeline, and schedule for completing repairs or system implementations.
  • Must be flexible and available to work evenings or overnight.
  • Must be available to travel out of state.
  • Requires physical tasks such as pulling cables, climbing into attics, and using lifts.
  • Mounting various hardware, AV equipment, and telephone systems.

Qualifications

  • Associates in information technology or equivalent certifications.
  • 2+ Years’ experience within the technology field
  • Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Networking and troubleshooting.
  • Have a mechanical aptitude and ability to use various types of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to complete reports and documentation associated with job tasks.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass a background check.
